I am participating in a product review for UHU products. I found out about this on someone else's blog- I don't remember which one- but I thought this would be a terrific way to try out new products on the market. I've added a link to Maria's blog- that's where I was able to request the product. You need to have a crafting blog to qualify.
My first review is on the long, skinny pen-like thing underneath the tape runner. They call it a Scrapbookers Pen. The first time I got a chance to try out this product was this past weekend. One of the projects in my stampers 10 club involved several mats, and I thought this would be a good test for the pen.
Well, I was very impressed with how well the adhesive held together all the layers- they are never coming un-stuck. Another thing I really liked was that it didn't dry instantly, but didn't take too long either. I held the paper in place for a few seconds, and after that the glue was bonded enough to not allow the CS to move around when I went to cut it and tear it. Another thing I liked about it was the fact that a little drop holds very well- I think the pen would last quite a long time, once you got used to it. And I'm rather economical, so I'm all for that!
A couple of things about the glue bothered me though. True to their promise, the paper doesn't wrinkle, but it dried so stiffly my card was bowed in the middle. You can actually feel the hardness of the glue- it feels like it would crack if I bent the card. This could be due to the fact that on my first layer of matting, the glue came out more quickly then I expected, so I might have used more then was actually needed. The second thing that I didn't like about the glue was the thin "strings" that formed when you lifted the pen to move it from one corner to the other.
I'm going to continue using the pen- I'll use it on more projects including stiffer embellishments such as chipboard, and I will also use it in my scrapbook. I would like to see how it perfoms in many different scenarios.
So far I like this glue, but I have a feeling it would be best limited to certain projects. As I use it with different products I'll definitely post back here.
Maria and Rebecca, thanks for the opportunity to use UHU!
